Tibial tuberosity avulsion fracture

Presentation

Knee pain, with infrapatellar swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Separated bony fragment anterior to proximal tibia, with hyperintense fluid inbetween on T2WI as well as bone marrow edema in anterior aspect of proximal tibia, denoting avulsion fracture of tibial tuberosity. Associated thickening of distal patellar tendon. Mild joint effusion.

Mucoid degeneration PHMM and intact cruciate ligaments.

Case Discussion

Separation of tibial tubercle denoting avulsion fracture of tibial tuberosity, likely chronic.
