Tibialis anterior tendon laceration

Presentation

Anterior ankle region laceration a few hours prior to the ultrasound. Referred to check anterior ankle tendons.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is a complete tear of the tibialis anterior tendon near the skin scar. The distance between the torn tendon ends is about 33 mm. The adjacent extensor hallucis longus tendon is intact with a normal echopattern. There was no injury to the adjacent neurovascular bundle.

A young male presented with anterior ankle laceration. The ultrasound shows tibialis anterior tendon rupture which was surgically repaired.
