Tongue base squamous cell carcinoma - T2 N2b M0

Right sided neck swelling. Palpable mass ? fluctuant ?collection.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Mixed cystic / solid right IIa and IIb nodes.

Right tongue base irregularity (although adjacent debris).

No other nodes or aerodigestive abnormality.

CT chest clear (not uploaded).

Narrowing your windowing can help to highlight enhancing tissue; in this case the primary lesion was already identified by endoscopy.

Case Discussion

Squamous cell carcinomas which are p16 positive can present with cystic metastases. This was confirmed on subsequent US guided biopsy of one of the nodes.
