Presentation
Rapidly enlarging tonsils
Patient Data
Left tonsillar fossa well-defined ovoid lesion with signal isointense to muscle in T1WI, slight hyperintensity in T2WI and mild homogeneous contrast enhancement (3.3 x 3.7 x 4.8 cm).
Mass displaces the parapharyngeal fat space and abuts and displaces the tongue base. However, no evidence of direct invasion into the tongue. No perineural invasion or lymphadenopathy.
There are 2 mildly enlarged left level II nodes, with the largest measuring 12x10mm. Both lymph nodes demonstrate low ADC values.
Case Discussion
Case submitted by Dr Smita Deb and A/Prof Pramit Phal.
Left palatine tonsil mass- the patient went on to have a biopsy of his left tonsil which showed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
