Case contributed by Mohammad Taghi Niknejad
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Known and operated case of esophageal cancer.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Postoperative changes are seen due to total esophagectomy and gastric pull up (Ivor Lewis procedure). There is no sign of local tumoral recurrence at the anastomotic site, no luminal narrowing or filling defect, and no pathologic outpouching.

Case Discussion

Barium study shows no apparent sign of local tumoral recurrence at the anastomotic site; however, contrast enhanced CT scan can be more helpful in this patient if clinically suspected, but the gold standard investigation for anastomotic recurrence is endoscopy with biopsy.
