Thyroid Scintigraphy

RAIU is elevated in a specific focal area of the left thyroid lobe relative to the extrafocal tissue.  Characteristic finding in Plummer syndrome (i.e. a toxic adenoma).

Case Discussion

Results: RAIU is mild to moderately elevated, unlike Graves disease. Not all nodules are toxic, and come cases may present as euthyroid.
