Presentation

The patient had a CT scan of the chest 3 months after an episode of COVID-19 pneumonia.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Calcified plaques and nodules are seen involving the tracheal cartilages. Posterior tracheal wall is spared.

Visualized lung parenchyma shows the sequelae of previous COVID-19 infection, more marked peripherally.

Case Discussion

Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica is an uncommon benign disorder of the tracheobronchial tree, usually affecting the distal trachea and proximal primary bronchi. 

On CT, the disease is manifested as irregular calcifications and/or small nodules projecting into the airway lumen. The posterior tracheal wall is characteristically spared.
