Tracheoesophageal fistula

Presentation

Spluttering on feeds; admitted with respiratory distress and SVT following feed.

Patient Data

Age: 12 days
Gender: Male
Fluoroscopy

Supine water-soluble contrast swallow via a sterile bottle.

NG tube had been passed on the ward with ease. NG tube is appropriately sited.

There was immediate opacification of the esophagus. On distension, a communication to the trachea is seen at the level of C7/ T1 . There is immediate opacification of the trachea and bronchi with contrast extending into the right upper lobe.
