Presentation

Asymptomatic. CT performed to assess a pulmonary nodule.

Diffuse nodular calcifications in the tracheal antero-lateral walls. There is no relevant tracheal stenosis. The appearances are much more irregular than that seen with normal cartilage calcification.

Case Discussion

Tracheopathia osteochondroplastica is related to the development of osseous or cartilaginous 1-8 mm nodules or both in the submucosa of the trachea and bronchial walls. They may be either focal or diffuse.

Asymptomatic patient. Presumptive diagnosis.
