Traction apophysitis of left anterior superior iliac spine

Sore left hip for 2 weeks. Plays cricket, soccer and athletics but no acute injury.

Patient Data

Age: 15
Gender: Male

Abnormal (asymetrical) bone marrow and surrounding soft tissue edema at the anterior superior iliac spine involving the sartorius muscle origin without separation as may occur in an acute avulsion injury.

Case Discussion

Overuse type injury in an immature skeleton with traction of the saetorius tendon on the ASIS apophysis prior to bony fusion.
