Transient global amnesia

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Presented with few hours history of amnesia preceded by strenuous work out.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
mri

Tiny foci of restricted diffusion are seen on DWI and ADC map in the lateral hippocampi bilaterally.

No other clinically significant parenchymal abnormality is demonstrated.

Bilateral maxillary sinuses mucosal thickening noted. 

Case Discussion

The case presents typical imaging features of transient global amnesia including hippocampal areas of restricted diffusion.

While emboli could give similar appearances and potential differential diagnosis, no neurological deficit clinically was appreciated.
