Presentation
Screening abdominal US requested due to elevated liver function tests. Otherwise asymptomatic.
Patient Data
Intussusception of a short jejunal segment can be seen in the left upper quadrant. This was not painful upon compression. No other abnormality could be visualized.
The intussusception can be better appreciated in the perpendicular and longitudinal cine loops.
Case Discussion
Considering the asymptomatic presentation, the abnormality is likely a benign, transient intussusception. The patient was given 1L of water for oral intake and was subsequently scanned again 30 minutes after which most of the small bowel was filled with fluid and the the intussusception was no longer visible.
