Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Acute left hip pain, no history of trauma, and no fever.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

No abnormality was detected on CT.

MRI showing bone marrow edema involving the head and neck of the left femur with low signal intensity on T1 and increased signal intensity on T2 fat sat, moderate enhancement after contrast.

Minimal joint effusion of the left hip.

No signs of avascular necrosis.

Case Discussion

Transient osteoporosis of the hip is an uncommon disorder of unknown etiology. It is most common in pregnant women and middle-aged men. It has a self-limited course and spontaneous resolution.
