Non-traumatic onset of right hip pain, limping - 3 - 4 days. No fever. Normal lab reports.

There is mild anechoic effusion in anterior recess of affected right hip joint. There is no erosion of cortex. Femoral vessels were patent. Anterior thigh muscles showed normal echopattern.
Asymptomatic left hip joint does not show effusion.
Case Discussion
In the absence of destructive features or heterogeneous effusion to suggest septic arthritis, imaging findings are suggestive of transient synovitis of the hip joint. These differentials could be distinguished on a joint aspirate.
