Transient tachypnea of the newborn

Presentation

Term baby. Emergency C-section for fetal distress.

Patient Data

Age: 1 day
Gender: Female
X-ray

NG tube in appropriate position.

Bilateral perihilar airspace opacification. No effusion.

Case Discussion

Spontaneous normalization by day 3 with some oxygen treatment, but otherwise no intervention. Features are those of transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN).
