Transitional cell carcinoma - bladder

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Hematuria.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male

Small enhancing polypoid mass (measuring 20 x 16 x 10 mm) arising from the right posterolateral bladder wall at the vesicoureteric junction, protruding into the bladder lumen with no ipsilateral ureterohydronephrosis. No evidence of extravesical extension. No pelvic or para-aortic lymphadenopathy.

Normal appearance of the seminal vesicles. 

Simple left renal cysts are noted.

Case Discussion

CT features of a small enhancing mass of the bladder wall at the vesicoureteric junction, projecting into the bladder lumen most consistent with a transitional cell carcinoma that was confirmed by cystoscopy with biopsy.
