Contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen demonstrates a hypoattenuating infiltrative lesion involving the upper and inter polar parenchyma of the left kidney associated with perinephric stranding. The renal sinus fat is obliterated and there is thickening enhancement of the urothelium. Also note pathologically enlarged node at the left renal hilum. Incidentally there is a circumaortic left renal vein. There is a small metastatic lesion in the right lobe of the liver.
Case Discussion
The differential of an infiltrating renal mass includes
- TCC (transitional cell carcinoma)
- SCC (squamous cell carcinoma)
- infiltrating RCC (renal cell carcinoma)
- renal lymphoma
- renal metastasis
