Case contributed by M.D. Lucas Meira Sarlo

Left wrist pain 45 days after falling from height.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Fracture in the most lateral aspect of the trapezius body with extension to the trapezius-primometacarpal joint with synovitis/reactional joint effusion, with intense bone marrow edema and adjacent myo-adipose planes. There are no significant deviations between the fragments.

Case Discussion

Fractures of the trapezius body are less common than those at the apex. Trapezial fractures are often associated with a fracture of the first metacarpal base and/or subluxation or dislocation of the first carpometacarpal joint.
