Trauma forearm positioning (photo)

Case contributed by Amanda Er

Positioning for a forearm series radiographs in a trauma patient.

Case Discussion

These images depict plain film radiographic positioning for when patients are unable to adhere to standard positioning techniques for the forearm (i.e. trauma setting, unable to supinate forearm).

Radiolucent positioning sponges are recommended to immobilize patients.

Note: These images are not meant to demonstrate the standard anteroposterior and lateral views of the radius and ulna, nor should these projections be used to solely assess the elbow and wrist joint.
