Unsuccessful vacuum extraction; head pushed back through birth canal for cesarean section.
Patient Data













Cerebral, cerebellar, and possibly midbrain edema represented by slit-like ventricles, effaced sulci, and narrowed left ambient cistern.
Biparietal and left frontotemporal subgaleal hematoma (SGH).
Left frontal parafalcine parenchymal petechial hemorrhage.
Bilateral tentorial, posterior falx cerebri, and left transverse sinus subdural hemorrhage (SDH). Small, thin left posterior parietal SDH. Thin SDH along the left squamosal suture.
Case Discussion
Traumatic findings in a newborn whose head got stuck in the birth canal. Failed trial of vacuum assisted delivery; converted to cesarean section.
