Presentation

Sustained a fall.

Patient Data

Age: 90 years
Gender: Male
  • Bilateral frontal and temporal subdural and subarachnoid hyperdense collections indicative of acute bleeding. 
  • Multiple hemorrhagic contusions in the bilateral frontobasal and left temporal brain. 
  • Subcutaneous hematoma in the soft tissues adjacent to the overlying calvarium, confirming the intracranial bleedings as a direct result of the trauma (coup). 
  • Large anteroposterior near-midline cranial vault fracture extending into the frontal sinus, with secondary hairline fracture extending occipitally on the right. 
  • Signs of mucosal thickening in the paranasal sinuses bilaterally.
