Traumatic renal injury

Case contributed by Dr Barbara Turi

Presentation

Microscopic hematuria

Patient Data

Gender: Female
Modality: CT

CT multiphase protocol study for suspected of renal lesions includes a phase without contrast, an arterial phase to characterise vascular lesions, a neproghraphic phase to characterise the lesions of parenchyma and a late phase to characterise bleeding of the urinary tract.

Case Discussion

CT study allows staging of renal injury.

CT multiphase protocol study for suspected of renal lesions includes a phase without contrast, an arterial phase to characterise vascular lesions, a neproghraphic phase to characterise the lesions of parenchyma and a late phase to value bleeding and the urinary tract. The incidence of renal injures increases in pre-existing congenital or acquired renal pathology

CT has a important role in the management of renal trauma and the role of the radiologist in the management of patient and in the choice of more opportune treatment.
