Presentation

Fell over onto right side. Now pain and bruising in the right loin.

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Male

Avulsion and retraction of the abdominal wall musculature from the iliac crest with surrounding soft tissue swelling and hemorrhage. Minor but definite herniation of fat and right colon though the defect. No fracture.

Case Discussion

An unusual injury in adults. In children it can lead to iliac apophyseal avulsion and separation.
