Traumatic supraspinatus injury

Fall on the abducted arm. Painfully restricted motion.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Partial tear of the supraspinatus tendon at the myotendinous junction. No signs of degeneration or muscular atrophy.

Case Discussion

Traumatic stress on healthy tendons typically leads to bony avulsions or myotendinous junction injuries, as in this case. Tears of the tendon itself usually involve some degree of degeneration.
