Retrograde urethrogram showing rupture of the proximal urethra with extravsation of contrast into the right pelvic space. Performed after extra peritoneal packing.
Case Discussion
Urethral injury classically presents with blood at the meatus, perineal bruising, hematuria or acute urinary retention. Pelvic fractures resulting from high impact trauma may be associated with urethral injury. If urethral injury is suspected a retrograde urethrogram should be performed prior to catheterization.
