Presentation

Left frontal scalp swelling for last 9 years. No pain, discharge or skin color changes.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

A well-defined heterogenous echogenicity structure measuring 10 x 16 mm is seen in the subcutaneous tissues of the left frontal scalp (at the site of complaint). No significant vascularity is seen in it on color Doppler ultrasound examination. The underlying bones are grossly intact.

Procedure: Excision of the left frontal scalp lesion.

Diagnosis: Trichilemmal cyst. 

Case Discussion

Well-defined heterogenous echogenicity lesion in the subcutaneous tissues of the left frontal scalp; possible differentials include sebaceous cyst/epidermal inclusion cyst and trichilemmal cyst.
