Tricuspid valve replacement

Case contributed by Dr Henry Knipe

Recent admission with fluid overload.

Patient Data

Age: 28
Gender: Male

Marked cardiomegaly without failure. No focal collapse, consolidation or pneumothorax. Prosthetic tricuspid valve and sternotomy wires noted.

Case Discussion

Prosthetic tricuspid valve is demonstrated (CT-proven) - they typically project more anteriorly and to the right than prosthetic mitral valves although the position is variable and identification can be difficult in gross cardiomegaly.
