Presentation
Lost balance whilst rollerskating and fell onto concrete surface
Patient Data
Age: 13 years
Gender: Female
From the case:

- spiral fracture of the distal tibial metaphysis, without significant displacement
- oblique fracture of the distal fibular metaphysis, at the level of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis, without significant displacement
- physis and epiphysis unremarkable, and no significant widening of medial and lateral clear space.
A CT was then requested as the possibility of a triplanar fracture was raised

- triplanar fracture of the right distal tibia
- involvement of the medial epiphysis seen in the coronal plane
- involvement of the lateral physis seen in the axial plane
- involvement of the metaphysis seen in the sagittal plane
- oblique fracture of the left distal fibula at the level of the tibiofibular syndesmosis (Weber B)
Case Discussion
Triplanar fractures of the distal tibia are typically seen in the adolescent age group
