Presentation

Right wrist trauma, pain.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

A small bone fragment in the dorsal wrist soft tissue at the carpal level. Diffuse soft tissue thickening. No dislocation.

ultrasound

Avulsed bone fragment from the dorsal surface of the triquetrum with local soft tissue thickening. Corresponding cortical defect present in the triquetrum.

The asymptomatic side shows normal findings.

Case Discussion

The patient presented with post-traumatic wrist pain. The radiograph shows a small bone fragment in the dorsal wrist at the carpal level favoring a triquetral fracture. The ultrasound shows an avulsed triquetral fracture with a corresponding defect in the dorsal cortex.
