Presentation
Tertiary review for fetal cardiac assessment
Patient Data
Age: Second trimester
Gender: Female

Fetal echocardiography of truncus arteriosus on the 5 chamber view. The 1st truncal branch is clearly seen coming off posterior to the large trunk.

A single large trunk is seen to be giving rise to the pulmonary arteries and aorta.
Case Discussion
In truncus arteriosus, a single common artery arises from the heart and supplies coronary, pulmonary and systemic circulation. This case demonstrates the typical findings of truncus arteriosus on standard fetal echo views.
