Presentation

Left knee swelling.

Patient Data

Age: Young age
Gender: Male
x-ray

At presentation, there is moderate knee effusion.

After 2 weeks, marked knee effusion with development of intra-articular gas.

After three months, development of diffuse periarticular osteopenia and degenerative changes.

After 5 months (on treatment), decreased amount of knee effusion, still noted diffuse periarticular osteopenia and degenerative changes.

Within one month

Marked knee effusion. Diffuse synovial thickening and enhancement. Diffuse bone marrow edema of the lower femur and upper tibia.

After 6 months

Moderate knee effusion, diffuse synovial thickening and enhancement. Patchy areas of subchondral bone marrow edema with postcontrast enhancement.

After 1 year treatment

After one year of treatment with anti-tuberculous drugs, there is complete resolution of knee effusion, absence of synovial enhancement with residual synovial thickening.
