Tuberous sclerosis - multiple angiomyolipomas

Presentation

Intellectual disability and seizures.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

A 44×36mm well-defined hetero-enhancing mass is noted at segment VII of the liver. There are also a few small cysts scattered at liver parenchyma less than 12mm. 
Multiple fat containing masses are seen throughout both renal parenchyma. The largest one measured 31×21mm. A 27×21mm simple cortical cyst is also observed at lower pole of the left kidney.

Case Discussion

Multiple renal angiomyolipomas in a known case of tuberous sclerosis. Tuberous sclerosis with multiple angiomyolipomas is a relatively common occurrence. About 55-75% of tuberous sclerosis cases are associated with angiomyolipomas.
