Case Discussion

The appearance was odd for any foreign body, so the woman was carefully interrogated about her last meal, eaten right before the study: it consisted of a plate of penne, a tubular shaped pasta, which she obviously had not chewed.

This finding may mimic, among others: ingestion of pills, wrapped contraband, or any wooden material.

The real cause of the abdominal pain remains uncertain.
