Right elbow swelling and pain.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male

x-ray

A large soft tissue cloud-like calcification is seen at the lateral portion of the right elbow with associated soft tissue swelling measuring about six by three centimeters, without definite evidence of bony involvement, suggesting tumoral calcinosis.

Case Discussion

This young boy presented to the orthopedics out patient clinics with painful right elbow swelling. The physician requested an x-ray which showed the "cloud like", amorphus, or multilobulated (multiple lobules seperated by fibrous septa) calcifications adjacent to the elbow joint. Which is the second most common site to be involved by tumoral calcinosis. No adjacent bony erosion or osseus destruction could be appreciated which are typical radiographic findings of tumoral calinosis.
