Ulcerative colitis with colonic adenocarcinoma

Presentation

Known case of ulcerative colitis presented with weight loss and abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

Significant narrowing is noted at splenic flexure of colon on unenhanced CT scanogram. There is also loss of haustra in distal portion of colon in a known patient with ulcerative colitis.

Thickening and irregularity are seen at splenic flexure of the colon with slightly surrounding fat stranding in favor of tumoral lesion. Loss of hustration is also visible at distal colon in a known patient with ulcerative colitis. 

Case Discussion

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including chronic ulcerative colitis and also Crohn disease (particularly in bypassed loops/in vicinity of chronic fistula) are predisposing factors for colorectal cancer.
