Umbilical hernia with small bowel obstruction

Presentation

Acute abdominal pain and vomiting.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

An umbilical hernia is seen with 1.5 cm craniocaudal dimension of its neck.

A loop of the small bowel is located within the umbilical hernia with subsequent proximal small bowel dilatation (up to the stomach). Distal bowel loops are collapsed.

No free intra-abdominal gas to suggest bowel perforation.
