Focal dilatation of the umbilical vein is seen.

Focal dilatation of the umbilical vein is termed an umbilical vein varix. It has an association with fetal cardiac anomalies, and complications such as umbilical vein thrombosis and fetal hydrops make it an important sonographic finding.
