Case Discussion

Unicompartmental or partial knee replacement is performed on patients with single-compartment osteoarthritis. It is not preferred for patients with inflammatory or rheumatoid joint disease. Its advantage over total knee replacement is:

  • smaller incision so quicker post-operative recovery

  • less intra-operative blood loss

  • quicker rehab due to less soft tissue damage
