Unilateral cerebellar hypoplasia and cerebellar cleft associated with supratentorial migrational anomalies

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Bilateral grey matter heterotopia and closed lip schizencephaly lined by polymicrogyria with tenting of the lateral ventricles.

The right cerebellar hemisphere and vermis are hypoplastic, pons appears normal. The cerebellar cleft is located in the right cerebellar hemisphere and extends to the fourth ventricle. Disordered alignment of the cerebellar folia and fissures and hypoplastic right cerebellar peduncle.

Dental material artifacts are identified.

Case Discussion

MRI demonstration of cerebellar cleft, residual change resulting from a prenatal cerebellar insult, rather than primary malformation. The supratentorial findings are also in agreement with an acquired lesion. The outcome is variable depending of the presence of supratentorial findings.
