Presentation
The patient presented with right-sided submandibular swelling.
Patient Data

Right submandibular gland branching ductal dilation, containing clear fluid. The gland parenchyma has a normal echotexture and a smooth outline. The contralateral submandibular gland appears normal.
There is no sonographically identifiable calculus or mass. Parotid glands appear normal (not shown).

The right submandibular gland ductal dilation is more prominent while eating.
Case Discussion
Submandibular swelling is not uncommon due to lymphadenopathy, but this case was shown to be right-sided submandibular gland sialectasis.
The patent eventually had a neck CT, which confirmed the presence of an obstructing calculus that was otherwise obscured by the mandible's acoustic shadowing.
