Upper oesophageal cancer

Upper dysphagia

Patient Data

Age: 65
Gender: Male

Barium swallow

Modality: Fluoroscopy

Marked narrowing of the cervical oesophageal lumen, which is displaced anteriorly and to the right. 

Modality: CT

CT confirms the presence of an soft tissue mass posterior to the trachea, associated with the cervical oesophagus, lying just anterior to the C6-T2 vertebral bodies and results in oesophageal luminal narrowing. 

Case Discussion

The patient went onto endoscopic biopsy which confirmed squamous cell carcinoma of the oesophagus.
