Nonenhanced CT

Nonenhanced CT images show left hydroureteronephrosis caused by an obstructing left ureteral calculus within the vesicoureteral junction (VUJ).

Case Discussion

This case shows an obstructing calculus in the left vesicoureteral junction with soft tissue rim sign representing the edematous ureteric wall and confirming that the stone is inside the ureter.

The prone image shows that the stone is still in the distal ureter at the vesicoureteral junction and that it has not passed into the bladder.
