Ureteric reimplantation

Case contributed by Dr Chris O'Donnell

History of primary megaureter on the left treated by excision and reimplantation into the bladder. Recent loin pain.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

Distal left ureter is a little dilated and enters the left bladder dome rather than at the trigone.  This is the site used for reimplantation.  Note the distal ureter is thick-walled due to scarring but not obstructed.  The distal right ureter enters the bladder in its normal place at the trigone.
