Treatment of obstructive lithiasis, with the insertion of a ureteric stent.

Patient Data

Age: 35
Gender: Male

A left ureteric stent in proper position. The stent has pigtails at either end. Urolithiasis was observed also in the proximal segment of the left ureter

Case Discussion

Relief of an obstructed kidney may be external with a percutaneous nephrostomy or internal with a ureteric stent. The stent may be placed in an antegrade fashion (typically by a radiologist) or in a retrograde manner (usually by a urologist).
