Presentation

Left renal colic. First episode.

Patient Data

Age: 37
Gender: Male
X-ray

4mm calcific density at the level of the lower left sacrum, just above the level of the VUJ.

No upper tract stones.

Case Discussion

Plain radiograph is still widely used in the first instance in renal colic to assess for a ureteric stone.

A fraction are visible on plain film.  CT-KUB is the gold standard imaging modality.
