Ureteropelvic junction obstruction

There is pronounced hydronephrosis and ballooned pelvis in the left kidney but no dilated ureter which is most compatible with ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). Increased size of the left kidney is also seen.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates the non-contrast MDCT features of ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) and pronounced hydronephrosis upstream. The ballooned renal pelvis with collapsed proximal ureter is one of the major radiologic features of the UPJO and recurrent pyelonephritis is one of the major complications of the disease 1.
