Urethral carcinoma (female)

Presentation

Urinary incontinence, urinary frequency, and macrohematuria. Cystourethroscopy could not be performed due to severe urethral stenosis.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
MRI

MR demonstrates heterogeneous urethral and paraurethral soft tissue mass with high signal intensity on T2WI. Tumor surrounds the whole urethra diffusely and invades the bladder neck.

Findings most keeping with urethral carcinoma. 

There are also subserous and intramural uterine fibroids were noted.

Case Discussion

Primary urethral cancer is an uncommon disease. Urethral cancer occurs more frequently in women. Most of these tumors arise from uroepithelial or squamous cells.
