Urethral stricture

Presentation

Chronic dysuria and frequency with a history of prior old trauma due to catheterization.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male
Fluoroscopy

Retrograde urethrogram reveals a long segment irregular stricture involving the bulbar urethra, which did not relax on subsequent views.

The proximal segment of the bulbar urethra also shows beaded appearance. The posterior urethra and penile urethra appear normal.  

Contrast has also begun to fill the bladder.  The distended bladder shows a vertically elongated configuration with a markedly irregular and thickened wall and numerous diverticula.

Case Discussion

Regarding the imaging findings, chronic irregular bulbar urethral stricture with subsequent urinary bladder obstruction is diagnosed.
