Urethral stricture with neurogenic bladder and vesicoureteral reflux

Case contributed by Bahman Rasuli
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

History of catheterization with the poor urinary stream.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Retrograde urethrogram and voiding cystourethrogram reveal  short segment strictures involving the penile urethra and bulbar urethra associated with dilatation of proximal segments.

The posterior urethra appears normal.

Contrast has also begun to fill the bladder.

The urinary bladder shows irregular margin with multiple outpouchings inferring diverticula.

Reflux into a mildly dilated right ureter and into a dilated renal pelvis, with enlargement and blunting of the calyces (grade IV vesicoureteric reflux).

Case Discussion

Short segment penile and bulbar urethral strictures in a patient with poor urinary stream causing neurogenic bladder and right sided vesicoureteral reflux.
