Interstitial lung disease with a craniocaudal gradient of lung architectural distortion characterized by peripheral spetal thickenign associated with honeycombing and traction bronchiectasis.
This case shows typical UIP pattern on imaging:
- basal predominant
- subpleural predominant
- reticulation with peripheral bronchiectasis or bronchiolectasis
- absence of features suggesting an alternative diagnosis
The presence of this pattern, in the correct clinical setting, permits a confident diagnosis of IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis).
